A basement finished into a two-bedroom legal apartment with an on-grade entrance, creating a separate living space with convenient access.

The starting point
The customer wanted a basement apartment with at least two bedrooms, a dedicated laundry area, a three-piece washroom, and a separate living space. The main challenges were fitting these spaces into a practical layout, adding an on-grade entrance, providing fire separation between the basement and upstairs, and interconnecting the smoke alarms across both levels.
